If you like black beans and you're in the mood for a southwestern alt-burger, you can't do much better than the Spicy Black Bean Burger from MorningStar. They're great microwaved, and they're very tasty. My only problem was what to top them with. I used the standard American cheese, ketchup, mustard and lettuce, which seems an odd mixture for southwestern food, but it actually tasted fine. I'm sure if I was more creative I could come up with a fancy southwestern condiment combo.

I haven't tried it yet, but I'm guessing if you chopped these patties up into bits and sprinkled some cheese and diced tomatoes on top, you could create some really nice tacos, too.

These alt-burgers were excellent, and I will continue to buy them whenever I'm at the supermarket.

These are the best vege-burgers I have ever eaten. I love them. Where can I buy them @ a more reasonable price than retail?

I just wait for them to go on sale, and pick up a box for $3 or under.

Super Wal-Mart.

This product is NOT a "black bean burger" One look at the ingredients list will show you that beans are way down the list of contents (by %).
There is a scattering of beans in the patty but to call it a black bean patty is misleading at the minimum. I find the taste unappealing and falls way short of real black bean patties I have sampled.
Very disapointed!

This is one of my favorite ones by Morning Star.

I thought these patties were flavorful, a reasonable consistency, and sufficiently spicy. Five stars.

I LOVE these patties and I’m not a vegetarian. I’m not sure what the post above is talking about. Black beans are #3 on the ingredient list. http://www.seeveggiesdifferently.com/product_detail.aspx?id=345

I get them at Costco in a package of 12 ($13).

i find these to be extremely good with a slab of pepper jack cheese and some horseradish mustard, maybe a little hot sauce. :D

I put hummus and my favorite salsa on top and it's incredible. The flavors really compliment one another.

I usually saute some onions and mushrooms, top the burger itself (cooked) with them, followed by a slice of swiss, then toss it in the oven on broil for a few minutes, then slap the whole mess on a bun with Dinosaur Bar-B-Que sauce and some greens. Pair it with some sweet potato fries and you are stuffed.

i love these as well--i also realized the standard burger toppings could use some improvement.

i topped mine with fresh tomato and onion slices, and some mayo w/olive oil (reduced fat mayo). WONDERFUL!

These burgers are amazing... I usually saute some onions and mushrooms and throw those on top of my broiled burger with a slice of avacado and some mozzarella. I think its better than a regular burger, and I always feel great after eating one.

These are wonderful. Tried them for the first time today and won't go back to regular veggie burgers. I am not vegetarian but always hated the after taste of a real hamburger pattie left in my mouth. Guilt free. Thanks for the good product. Yum-O

Update. I just realized that you all are talking about the spicy black bean burger. The one I tried was the Chipotle black Bean Burger sold at Costco

These make staying away from red meat easy as pie. Delicious and addicting. Full meal deal. They have great flavor and you can feel good nutritionally after eating them. I get them at Costco, too. Can't beat these on a bun or by themselves with side dishes. Whoever created these did their homework. Enjoy..

They are very good. I like to use whole wheat sandwich thins instead of regular burger buns. I saute my onions and top it off with low fat american cheese and honey mustard. Steamed potatoes topped with mexican style veggie meat crumbles and taco cheese make the ultimate lowfat side for the perfect pigout!

I absolutely LOVE these burgers! They have so much flavor! I eat them on the thin 100 cal buns with hummus, BBQ sauce, grilled onions, green pepper, lettuce, tomato and a fried egg or cheese. They are so satisfying, & I don't have to worry about the damage red meat can often have on the body!
