Boca's Italian Sausage

I was very excited to try these, as Italian sausages used to be one of my favorite things to eat. My opinion of Boca's Italian Sausages is mixed.

If you're looking for an alt-sausage that tastes just like real Italian sausages, you're going to be pretty disappointed. I certainly was at first. But, if you take a permanent marker and cross out the word "Italian" on the box, and you just pretend that you bought flavorful and tasty alt-sausage links, you will be pleasantly surprised.

I cooked mine up in the toaster-oven and put it on a bun with some spicy brown mustard. It was quite tasty. I also sliced up a link and mixed it in with some pasta later that night for dinner, and it was a good flavor boost for the sauce.

I would definitely buy these again. I just have to keep reminding myself that they're not going to taste like real Italian sausages.

With mustard? What you need to do is to fry up some onions and sweet green or red peppers, then get some pizza sauce as a topping. You also should have an Italian bread bun or a soft-crust baguette instead of a hot-dog bun. That's my (Italian) opinion of the best way to eat these.
You can also do all of the above except that you remove the bun and slice-up and fry the sausage with the onions and peppers. It can be served as a topping for pasta as well.

I could definitely see myself replacing the mustard with onions and peppers, but I'm not giving up my classic hot-dog bun. ;)

We've been enjoying these for years. We line toasted Italian bread with provolone cheese and add the "sausage", grilled peppers & onions, and sometimes a robust mustard as well.
Yum!
They are not inexpensive though, but we find them on sale every few weeks.
Enjoy!

I really like Boca’s Vegetarian Italian Sausage, but wish there was not so much sodium in it.

I don't know what you are talking about when you claim it doesn't taste like the really thing. I may not have had meat in a long while, but my omnivorous boyfriend has and he claims it tastes like the real deal! I love these sausages, they no longer sell them at my local grocery store, so I have drive 30 minutes to get them, but it is definitely worth it!

Another option I would definitely recommend is the tofurkey brand italian sausages. They taste amazing and are great on a roll or sliced up in pasta with peppers and onions. I can't compare them to these Boca ones since i have been a fan of the tofurkey version from the start.
